Dear Club Officers, Illustrious Sirs and Nobles All:

Our International Shrine has designated February 6 through February 12, 2011 as International Shrine Prevention of Burns to Children Week. Our Chief Rabban, Rondy Redd has requested the Al Sihah Legion of Honor to assist in organizing festivities in the Macon and surrounding areas to help emphasize the importance to all families of protecting their children from the devastation of a burn.  Rondy and myself along with our Recorder Harley Phillips met with the Macon Fire Department who was very interested in helping Al Sihah to organize these festivities.  They have offered to help with publicity, having the Mayor of Macon issue a formal proclamation, assisting with the scheduling of activities at various locations, and to support our efforts with fire equipment and fire personnel.  This is a tremendous opportunity for our Temple that has not been exercised in the past.

A kickoff event emphasizing burn week will take place on Saturday, February 5, 2011 from 10:00AM until 2:00PM.  We are encouraging active participation by all Units and Clubs in the support of this event.  Please have your Klassic Cars, Scat Cat Vehicles, Doon Buggies, Go-Carts, hillbilly vehicles, motor cycles and all other vehicles available at the Main Temple Building to provide support and for the public to view.  All clowns and all uniformed units are requested to be dressed out in their uniforms.  We are requesting DNR to be there with their shooting game; U.S. Forrest Service with "Smokey the Bear," Georgia State Insurance Commissioner with their burn trailer, and any others that you may have knowledge of and can help us to invite.  The Macon Fire Department is helping in requesting emergency support vehicles and personnel from surrounding counties be there as well.  We will have a presentation program as well as handouts for adults and coloring books for children.  The Legion of Honor will be providing hot dogs, chips and lemonade for lunch.

This is an opportunity for all Nobles and their Ladies to enjoy the same type of camaraderie we use to enjoy at our previous Circuses.  It would be absolutely fantastic if our Units that participated in Cotton Candy, Popcorn, and Balloons would prepare and donate these items to the children on this special day.

We will also be operating a booth at Bass Pro Shop on Sunday, February 6, and Saturday, February 12, 2011.  We will be handing out burn prevention information at these events as well as collecting donations for our Burn Hospitals.  Your assistance in manning Bass Pro is also requested. On Tuesday Evening, February 8 we will be working with the Macon Fire Department at "Children's Night" at Chick Filet on Zebulon Road.  On Thursday Evening we will be working with the Fire Department at Fire House Subs for a similar event.  Your vehicles would be welcomed at these events also.  Clowns, your presence will really make a difference to the children.

I'm sure by now you have heard about the tragic home fire in Hawkinsville that seriously burned two children.  Your Temple with the financial support of all those that work our "Paper Sales" was able to pay the $12,000.00 to air transport these children to our Cincinnati Burn Hospital without financial difficulty.  I heard on tonight's news that the teenage boy is soon to be released from the hospital.  His younger sister is still in serious condition and is recovering.  But with the Grace of God, and the help of Shriners Hospitals and our wonderful and amazing hospital staff, these children will both live functional and fulfilling lives.  Isn't it great to be a Shriner, It's Feztastic !!!!!!!!!!!! 
We plan to expand presentations on the Prevention of Burns to Children to the entire month of February.  If your Blue Lodge or a club or organization is looking for a presentation for one of their meetings, we would be pleased to provide a program on "Burn Prevention."

Your Temple needs your help!  If we can just prevent one child from being burned all of our hard work and effort will be totally worthwhile.  Many of us have been to the Burn Hospitals and have witnessed the pain and suffering of children who have been severely burned, Personally, there is nothing I wouldn't do to help to prevent a child from suffering such a devastating event.  Thanking you for your support, I am
